International pop icon Dua Lipa’s recent concert in India has stirred waves of nostalgia and excitement among fans, thanks to an unexpected fan-made mashup featuring her hit track “Levitating” and the Bollywood classic “Woh Ladki Jo” sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya.
Dua Lipa Concert
During her performance in Mumbai, Dua Lipa surprised her audience by incorporating the fan-made mashup of her global hit “Levitating” and a timeless track from the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baadshah (1999), “Woh Ladki Jo”. The fans went crazy and flooded the internet, sharing snippets of the performance across all social media platforms.
This was difficult for Jay Bhattacharya, son of Abhijeet Bhattacharya, to accept, and he expressed his disappointment on a social media platform. He emphasized that the iconic track “Woh Ladki Jo” features the voice of his father, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, and not Shah Rukh Khan, who performed the song on screen. Jay expressed his frustration over the fact that many media reports failed to acknowledge this important distinction. Taking to Instagram, he voiced his concerns about the ongoing trend in the Indian entertainment industry, where playback singers often go unrecognized compared to the actors featured in their songs. He called for greater acknowledgment of singers’ contributions, highlighting their pivotal role in creating timeless music.

How Netizens Reacted
The drama did not end with this post but instead raised another heated debate among the audience. The comment section of the post was flooded with remarks such as: “People love this song only and only because of SRK, not for the music or voice.” Another Instagrammer wrote, “How many non-SRK songs of your father are famous?” While some users supported Jay, leaving comments like, “Glad someone spoke,” and “Your dad is a legend. The voice he has is so good no one even tried to mimic him because it’s one of a kind. May God bless Abhijeet sir, and I hope to hear him again soon.”
