Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, known to the world as Saudi Arabia’s ‘Sleeping Prince’, has passed away at the age of 36, after remaining in a coma for nearly two decades. He had slipped into an unconscious state following a tragic car accident in London in 2005.
Born in April 1990, Prince Alwaleed was the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud and the nephew of Saudi billionaire and investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. His accident and prolonged coma had captured global attention and public sympathy, with many across the Middle East referring to him affectionately as the ‘Sleeping Prince’.
The Global Imams Council, in an official statement, extended heartfelt condolences to the Saudi Royal Family. The statement read, “The Global Imams Council extends its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the esteemed Royal Family, on the passing of Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, who passed away after a long struggle that lasted nearly twenty years following a tragic accident.”
Prince Alwaleed’s death marks the end of a long chapter of hope, prayer, and medical efforts. The royal family and supporters across the kingdom mourn the loss of a young life caught in a state between survival and slumber.
